Rat Tail (Stick) Tang

This is the original version and the most common type of handle in khukuri. When the khukuri was first invented such type of tang was used in the handle to complete the khukuri. Almost all village and army khukuris have this set up. It is very strong and secured handle. In most cases the tang goes inside the handle (through), comes out and then locked from outside. Hence it is also called "Hidden Tang" version. The best part of such handle is that the handle shrinkage issue will not affect the setting. The tang inside the handle is like a thick shaft in triangular shape that goes narrower and narrower as it goes towards the butt and pops out. A holed is drilled in the solid handle material before inserting the tang.
