What is the best one or perfect for my purpose?
Firstly all of our knives have the same quality; made from same process, materials and people. So its just a matter of picking the right size, weight and with the features that suits your purpose. We have in-depth categorization as per product's features and each product is also well illustrated in its product detail page. You can also use the filter (search) function to pinpoint your search. And still, you are unsure just talk to us. We are always here to help you out.
What type of steel do you use for the blades??
Two types of high carbon steel; 5160 (leaf spring of vehicle) and 52100 also known as En-31 (industrial steel used for making heavy-duty tools for machinery works and rotary bearings for motors) are used for all our knives. See SPECS to find out which one is used for that particular knife.
What are these steel??
5160 is the suspension steel of heavy-duty vehicles and has carbon contain of about 0.60%; a classic and best steel for forging/making any size knives. 52100 or EN-31 is industrial steel widely used for making cutting tools and ball bearings that has great toughness, durability and very high resistance. It is a high carbon, chromium steel that has about 1% of carbon contain. It shoots HRC better comparatively.
Are all the specification accurate?
- The mentioned units may vary marginally (10-15%) since its handmade
- The mentioned Blade Thickness may vary to get the required weight (Actual Weight). WEIGHT (gm) is given priority over THICKNESS (mm)
- All knives are for RIGHT-hand user, for LEFT-hand mention in “Your Message” field in Checkout Page while ordering. It is FREE
Can I change the default specification of a product?
I want to change the size of the offered blade.. I want different materials.. what do I do?
Is it possible to order a full custom or semi custom knife or kukri? "my own DESIGN"
Yes its possible. You can alter the default features to your need OR make a full customize (new/your design) knife of your preference. Please fill our custom design form and submit OR simply contact us OR even email us directly. (Prices and Time-Frame are subject to change as per requirements)
How long will it take to deliver?
Delivery depends on the stock availability. When a sale is made we send you an official email with Invoice in which the estimated time frame is clearly written. Our normal time frame for stock order to ship (FWD) is 3-5 days and 7-12-15 days if we have to make, and further 3-5 days for delivery. We also work on DEADLINE at no cost if you have any. Please do share the dates with us and we will try our best to make it.
Shipping Issue :: *NEW; added in site on 1st DEC 2019*
Due to some strict regulation by DHL (our main shipper) knives other than kukri or kukri shaped (re-curve) like straight knives, bowie, machete, dagger, double edged blades, we are compelled to ship thru the “Cargo+Courier” mode along with various items mixed together. Hence the delivery time frame is longer than regular shipping. We regretfully announce that this shipping method takes anytime from 5-8-12 days from the shipped (FWD) date depending on the countries. We are working very closely with the shipper to sorting it out but it may take some time. On the other hand, any knives in kukri format are no issue and shipped as normal (3-5 days or less).
Do the knives come sharp?
Yes all knives come very sharp in ready-to-use mode. All knives go thru the cutting tests. We also do "Super Sharp" edge on request at no cost.
Are these knives for use or just show pieces?
Can I really use your knife?
How good (durable) are they?? I want for cutting not hanging..
Yes of course all our knives are made for cutting and performing. Each knife is well heat treated, thoroughly tested and properly checked for any flaws. All knives come with the "Lifetime Warranty" so we take our quality very seriously.
Do all knives come with the two small knives (Karda Chamak) or B-Up knife?
Some do some do not. To find out which one has or not see photos or check out product specifications.
I have placed the order but I haven't received any confirmation?
We work in Nepal time zone (GMT +5.45) with working hours from 10am to 5.30pm NST. However we try to be online in LIVE CHAT as much as possible. We acknowledge a sale with an official invoice within 24 hours of working days. Please do not forget to check your SPAM mailbox or Trash folder as sometimes our email may go in there due to attachment (invoice).
Who's Didier Wenger? (Paypal Payment)
Why is the online payment acknowledgment in Didier Wenger's name when I paid to KHHI nepal?
Mr. Didier Wenger is KHHI's official associate and a trusted friend. All the online payment will be credited/deposited into KHHI's Paypal a/c under his name. KHHI's PayPal a/c is maintained from Switzerland and maintained by a Swiss, Mr. Didier Wenger.
How do I pay for extra or added amount?
Please contact us for this. We normally give you a quick online payment link or send you a paypal invoice. In both options debit/credit card can be used.
How do I claim discounts like Patriotic, Power, Bulk, Refer etc?
Please contact us for this. We will either give you a discount code which can be used in Cart page OR email you a discounted quotation (invoice) which can be paid online. Please email or live chat with us.
What are your buying and selling policies? Guarantee/Warranty/Shipping Policy
We don't have any hard and fast policies. Being flexible as much as possible and providing the best possible customer service (satisfaction) have always been our motto and success mantra. You can read our policies and warranty as well.
What if I received a damaged /low-quality product? or with finishing issue?
We take our quality very seriously so we are confident such issues would not come. However all our knives are 100% handmade so occasionally an issue or two may arise even though we give our best. In such cases we handle the issue as per our policies (Refund or Replace or Repair). We also try our best to work out with the customer under understanding basis. Please see our policies and warranty for detail.
How do you maintain your quality? (raw materials, production, checking, testing etc)
KHHI nepal stands for high quality knives. We have our own mechanism to maintain our quality control. Over the years we have developed a system and man power to deliver the best possible quality. Please visit our Quality page in which we have tried to explain in words about ourselves.
Are all products handmade (hand forged)? or machine is also used !!
80% of our knives are hand forged handmade by using very conventional machines and tools. Moreover under our "Primitive" making method, everything is done by bear hand thru great skill and by domestic tools and natural raw materials. We also offer CNC profiled knives for custom and ultra modern knives to get the parameters spot on. Here the cnc machines do the profiling and rest is done by blade smiths themselves. We are very proud to be the only company to undertake the Primitive, Traditional and Technology making methods. Our khukuri conservation campaign is yet another strength and uniqueness.
Shipping & Tax or LEGALity? Is it ok to ship (import)? Any customs issues?
- We ship under the universally accepted GSP code and with all the necessary docs so is no problem. However some countries have strict regulations when it comes to sharp knives so its always better to enquire your customs at your end
- Also to be on the safer side we declare all our knives as "Handicrafts", "Tools", "Jungle or Gardening Utensils" etc
- The import tax of a country must be paid by the buyer. However we do all the needful to avoid tax or lessen it. Buying from KHHI warehouse skips tax completely even if the country imposes as it is already taken care by us
- We can ship to almost every country in the world
- All our knives are legal because we use legal materials only and make thru legal means. We are a legitimate company that pays tax to Nepalese govt annually
Do I get refund if customs hold the knife?
Sadly no. We do all the necessary docs and procedures to ship from Nepal to help ease customs in the buyer's end. Should it still get hold then its customer's job to handle that part in his country. In such case NO refund is made.
