The WoodCutter Khukuri; Thick n Heavy Blade; an AXE type, a heavy metal kukri

The WoodCutter is an improvised and modified version of raw bladed panawal handled kukris. It is actually the merging of two famous and functional khukuris; Angkhola (Ang + Khola; having fuller in blade) and Panawal (Full flat tang riveted handle). The raw look (finishing) that is in good demand inspires the look of the khukuri. It has heavy-long blade and strong-solid handle that are very well suited for heavy wood cutting works in forest and beyond. Hence it is nicked named as Heavy-Log.

What is RAW blade (finishing)??
It is a type of finishing or format that is achieved from quenching a blade. The blade turns into faded black color as a result of extreme temperature difference when it is suddenly dipped into water or oil after extensively heated in fire. The color remains in the blade forever. Since the black color gives a raw look and is also achieved through a basic stage we call it RAW finishing. It makes the blade very hard and durable.

Blade: The blade is 12inch long with raw finishing. This raw finishing enhances the cutting ability of the blade since it maintains the original hardness. While the panel of the blade is semi-fuller forged to give more strength and durability to the width of the blade. The spine is full 10 mm thick that gives massive power and swing to the kukri. This makes the job go easy and fast.

Handle: As mentioned above this kukri comes with the famous “Panawal” type handle where the flat tang goes all the way through the handle and aluminum rivets are fitted to strengthen the fixture. A single broad flat ridge is furnished in the center for better grip; to make holding easier and less slippery. The handle material is buffalo horn which is very durable and it comes unpolished for secure grip. Both the pommel and bolster are made from thick iron plate to withstand the heavy impact taken by the blade. Lastly in the bottom of the handle is a lanyard hole to tie the kukri in the wrist.

Sheath: It has a distinct green leather case but with black leather frog (belt loop). The green and black combination on the sheath suits the kukri very nicely. Like in the handle even the sheath has a lanyard loop tip for tying purpose (to tie around thigh to prevent wobbling).
