A Kukri Forged to serve; 5160 steel, Raw blade with Chirra, Panawal Angkhola Kukri

PANAWAL kukri in raw version is a hardcore performing blade. This raw finish provides extra sheer and raw force. Thus, the combination of raw blade and panawal handle makes the kukri suitable for heavy duty works and hence nicknamed ‘Forged To Serve’ for its heavy performance capability.

Blade: The blade is same as the original Panawal Dotted Kukri, the length measures 10inch long but for this blade, it has raw finishing. This raw finishing enhances the cutting ability and durability of the blade as losing of temper is prevented by avoiding the long machinery process undertaken to polish a blade. The blade has semi fuller or layer running across the main panel of the blade. This fullers/chirra decreases the overall weight of the blade and works as shock absorbers. It also gives support to the flat surface by absorbing the direct impact done on the blade.

Handle: The kukri’s name itself signifies that the handle of this kukri is like that of the famous “Panawal” version where the flat tang goes all the way through the handle, and twin rivets are fitted to strengthen the fixtures. This full flat metal tang can be clearly seen as lines running though the two sides of the handle. The handle pieces are made of rosewood to give an overall classic look and sturdiness where both the pommel and bolster are made from thick iron plate to withstand the heavy impact taken by the blade.

Sheath: It has a normal black leather scabbard. Near the mouth of the sheath, you can find more effective leather frog introduced; the “KHHI Farus”. Unlike regular frogs here the loop is made at the back of the frog itself to make carriage very easy and efficient since it holds the kukri close to the body. The Frog is fastened by a shoe lace or sometimes leather thong to strap its two end; this gives a complete new unique look. Brass metal chape gives a brilliant look and safety as it protects the scabbard’s leather and also prevents from piercing into flesh.

Size of the Blade: 10 inches
Materials: Special leather scabbard, full flat tang riveted Indian rosewood (no ridges) handle, Raw blade, KHHI farus

Beautiful knife, wish i could say the same about the sheath.

Got my raw panawal a few days ago and it is truly a beautiful knife, arrived well oiled etc and am very happy with it. However the kukri does not fit into the sheath no matter how hard i try with different lubricants etc... i have contacted KHHI however they have yet to reply to my email. overall definitely recommend KHHI, their kukris are beautiful and i'm sure this was a one of mistake.
