Kami's Special Authentic & Classic Khukuri; Typical Handmade Kukri knife

KHUKURI in nepaliKAMI'S SPECIAL is an outstanding kukri forged by Khukuri House master craftsmen that was released on 30th July 2014. This kukri was solely released to fill the vacuum of traditional and classic version kukris. ‘TYPICAL’ maintains the authenticity and essence of the classic kukris with its design. While it performs diligently due to it's well balanced weight, very good reach and great cutting power ability.  The blade profile falls more on to the classic "Budhune or Budhume" style which means it has a fat blade profile having broad chest and narrow belly as seen in the photo.

who/what is Kami?

Kami is an expert kukri maker [(born kukri maker, mainly called Bishwakarma (BK)] who has years of knowledge and experience and devoted himself to this profession. He has this inborn quality inherited from their fathers and beyond and it's said that "making kukri runs in his blood”. Kukri making has been a caste profession for generations for these people. They are considered to be from the lower caste system in Nepalese communities. Kamis have mastered the art of making kukri and something they are very proud of.

What's the Kami's Composition for this kukri?

Budhune khukuri from 19th centuryBlade: The blade is 13inch long well polished. It is quite curved as well. The shape of the blade resembles the classic Budhune kukris where the blade is forged much wider at the upper portion (chest) than the lower section (belly). This is done for better swinging capability and to produce immense force when using even with little application. A beautiful pattern is carved by the upper spine of the blade as part of the decoration.

Handle: Being the classic kukri the handle is like that of original parawal kukris where the rat-tail tang goes through the rosewood handle and remains hidden. The bottom of the handle also features a lanyard hole for a string to go through and prevent kukri from dropping away from the hand. This handle is further secured by brass bolster at the top and brass pommel at the bottom. The handle also has some drop heel feature to it.

Scabbard: It comes with a typical scabbard. It is made of black regular leather. The interior has a wooden frame shaped like the kukri to house the blade. It also features a frog loop to carry the kukri hanging from the waist level.
