Rare Kukri Sheath made from Treated Leather... a complete independent item

The treated leather sheath has always been a thing of the kukri for many generations. When there is a kukri this sheath always accompanied the blade. Its uniqueness and value soars even higher as such type of sheath are not available in any part of the world. Even today’s new advanced world is unable to deliver such leather in a readymade state hence NO other knives but the kukri carries such a privilege. This is the hallmark of the sheath. The locally treated buffalo hide that is painstakingly prepared in a very traditional process is the beauty and recognition of the sheath. The same method that was undertaken centuries ago is still followed. This has sadly become the challenge of today and hence now the making has almost stopped. This is the very reason why we are offering it with an objective to save the existence and legacy of this rare sheath. It will add much value, enhance the beauty and give uniqueness to your kukri/knife. The especially homemade treated leather prepared from domestic and natural resources, the rare artistic works on the sheath, and the fine craftsmanship it carries make it an excellent product than just a mere holder of the blade. The sheath itself is complete in every way.

How the leather is prepared in brief...

The leather and the works on it is where all the time, effort, and money is invested. The making or preparation of this special kind of buffalo leather is a painstaking job that needs hard work and patience. It goes through a number of stages and requires numerous materials and supplies to complete the process, which, thus may not be possible to mention them all. Therefore briefly speaking, the buffalo hide is submerged in water mixed with salt and lime for almost a month and regularly rubbed by feet to soften the leather. Adding various natural herbs from roots of plants and barks of selected trees is also one of the steps in the process done to prolong the life span of the leather and to avoid decaying. Then the prepared leather is again continuously rubbed, twisted, and folded for hours with “Tori ko Pina” (paste of mustard seeds achieved after grinding) while making the sheath to get the natural embossed pattern within the leather. The excessive rubbing of the leather results in tiny beads like mold all over the surface, which makes the sheath distinctive, attractive, durable, and decay-free. Then traditional patterns and linings are overlaid in the sheath to beautify its look. This simple yet attractive adornment has been its trademark that distinguishes and recognizes the sheath from the rest.

IMP NOTE: The sheath comes in Black color by default. Other colors can also be bought but stain issue may come in it. Also the two traditional accompanying knives (Karda & Chakmak) are not included.
