the replica version of 'BSI 2' Kukri officially Issued to the Gurkha Army reproduced by Khukuri House

In 2016-17, the British Gurkhas Nepal (BGN) requested 242 kukris for 126 new recruits. BGN always orders more than the required number to have a surplus, in case replacements are required during service. Each recruit is issued with 2 kukri knives - Service No.1; a formal kukri for duty and parade, and - Service No.2; a rough-use blade for training, exercises, and combat. In 2016-17, no annual tender was done. This meant that the PRI shop was directly handed over the job of making the official Kukris. Fortunately, Khukuri House got hold of one of the original sample pieces of BSI Service no.2 and reproduced it for public offerings. While we followed the exact BGN's specifications, the Kukri we made turned out to being better quality than the sample. And thus here we are offering the same under limited-edition offer.

BSI Service No.2 as a knife...

BSI kukri

It is a hand-forged hardcore kukri crafted as a FIELD or working knife. It is identical to the Service No.1 except for one key factor. Because it is meant for field operations, training, and combat, it comes totally unpolished (matt finishing). It does not go through the long polishing process neither on the blade or the handle. This is advantageous in 2 ways. The unpolished blade has the best available temper (hardness) and is not weakened by the heat inherent in the polishing process. Whereas the unpolished horn handle improves grip even when wet, and is easier to maintain. Some Gurkhas would even add camouflage fabric to the sheath so that it can blend into their combat gear. BSI kukri knife is truly a lethal/combat weapon and an self identity for the soldiers without whom Gurkhas will always remain incomplete.

Each Kukri is engraved with BSI 2016-17 Nepal near the bolster on the blade. The other side is stamped with a three digit serial number beginning sequentially from 001. This price also includes a free stand to display the Kukri. This stand packs flat for shipping due to its removable arms. This handmade wooden stand is made to the same high standards as the Kukri, and has a recessed crossed Kukri insignia on the base.
